Hi. I'm Liz. I am a life coach and an occupational therapist, among other things. I am passionate about learning how life works and understanding myself and others. I have always been a seeker. I can't help but ask questions and wonder. One thing I keep being shown is that there is no Answer. Instead, life is an individual process for every human being and is about learning, loving and living.
Learning about myself has been one of my primary occupations. This has largely been a process of more fully accepting myself. I am feeling more and more driven to share what I have learned in a way that helps others grow in their own life. This is part of what has drawn me to coaching and I am SO excited to see what we can create together! But first, a little more background:
I have been an occupational therapist in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 18 years and in that time I have had the privilege to work with such a beautiful variety of people. While I have very much enjoyed using my problem solving skills to help people with all manner of injury, illness or disability find ways to improve their functioning in daily life, I think what I have enjoyed most has been making a connection with another human being. Coaching has been a natural evolution of my career and allows me to hold space and support my clients in a rich way while they seek their own solutions.
We are all somewhere in the process of life and I have always viewed my sessions with clients as an exchange. Sometimes I think a patient has helped me more than I have helped them. Occupational therapy has been a wonderful teacher for me about people, pain, resilience, ways to live, ways to not live, and about myself.
Academic training has included a B.S. in Zoology with a minor in Psychology from the University of California at Davis and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Puget Sound. I have completed training in clinical hypnotherapy with Hypnotherapy Training Institute and received my life coaching training from Coach's Training Institute in San Rafael, CA.
Major life teachers for me include being a child of an alcoholic and working an active 12 step program of recovery around that, experiencing several temporarily disabling work injuries which forced a thorough examination of myself and my life, being gay and coming out in my 30's, and losing my mother to Alzheimer's disease and my brother to suicide. I also have broadened my self understanding and spiritual connection through an ongoing class and community focusing on native american shamanic teachings.
Oh, I also love animals, being outside, photography, art, adventure vacations, and learning new physical skills. My current new thing is learning to mountain bike!
I have worked with many practitioners who
have been great but they had one note.
Liz is a symphony.
